ESL Level 1
This competency-based and standards-aligned course is the first of six learner-centered courses designed to develop Level 1 (beginning) skills in:
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing
- Critical thinking
- Numeracy

Instruction, tasks, and projects in this course are designed to help adult English learners develop essential language skills and content knowledge related to their civic, educational, and career advancement goals, and to support their successful transition to either Level 2 ESL, academic coursework or career training classes.
